The Wedding & Reception Venue
Like most couples, Gemma and Danny started with wedding planning journey by searching for the perfect venue. They knew they wanted excellent food, drink and service plus a place where everything would feel personal to them.
“We booked Gaynes Park just over a year in advance for 4th March 2017. We chose springtime because the weather is cooler, the trees and plants at Gaynes Park look beautiful and there are also lambs being born on the property at this time of the year.”

“We fell in love with Gaynes Park as soon as we went there. The aisle in the Walled Garden is beautiful and the Orangery is just filled with light, even on a rainy day, like it was the day we went to see the venue. Everything about Gaynes Park is just stunning.”
Bridesmaids
Gemma’s bridesmaids were by her side throughout the wedding planning process and it’s true to say that Gemma wouldn’t have been without them.
“My bridesmaids were all amazing. They helped me make decisions, they answered my endless messages and they were always there when I needed them.”
Gemma’s bridesmaids wore gorgeous gowns and wraps from Debenhams with shoes from New Look .

The Men
Gemma and her brilliant bridesmaids also helped choose Danny’s outfit too and, after creating a shortlist of three suits, the groom had the deciding vote and opted for a grey wool suit from Next with ties and pocket squares from Marks and Spencer . The outfit was finished with brown shoes from River Island .
“Danny looked great in his suit and I was really happy with how well they fitted. The groomsmen kept Danny calm and brought him back from the stag do in one piece!”

The Dress & Accessories
Choosing the perfect dress was high on Gemma’s list of wedding priorities and she wanted to make sure that it was absolutely perfect.
“I tried on about 30 dresses and ended up going for something completely different to what I thought I’d choose! Everyone fell in love with my Maggie Sottero dress but I worried about it constantly before the wedding, wondering if I’d made the right choice.”
“On the day, I knew I had because I felt amazing. I was really comfortable in my dress and I loved that the straps came off so I had two different looks for the day and the evening.”
To fit with the ‘old, new, borrowed and blue’ tradition, Gemma kept her late Grandad’s wedding ring with her and also tied a new charm into her bouquet. This charm was extra special as it featured a photo of her beloved Grandad.

The Decorative Touches
Gemma and Danny wanted everything to look as natural as possible and for their decorations to be in keeping with the natural beauty of Gaynes Park. The couple chose a grey and blush pink colour scheme that worked so well for the time of year and their rustic theme.
For the ceremony, there were large lanterns lining the aisle and candles, decorated by Gemma, along the walls of the Orangery . A flower garland hung behind the registrar’s table and the white draping above the door was the perfect finishing touch.
The Mill Barn was also gorgeously decorated:
“We used fresh flower boxes as our centrepieces along with glass candles jars. We hand painted the boxes and personalised them using a stencil and I was so happy with how they looked.”
“For favours, we set out personalised mason jars at each place setting and these were filled with a cookies and cream shot.”
“We were also so lucky to have our cake and cupcakes made for us by my very talented friend. I found the design on Pinterest and they tasted so good.”

The Wedding Day
After their ceremony, Gemma and Danny served cocktails to their guests to celebrate before moving to the Mill Barn for the wedding breakfast.
“For our dinner, we chose a pork spring roll to start, Beef Wellington for the main course and then a trio of desserts that included crème brulee, chocolate tart and bread and butter pudding.”
The speeches were purposely kept short as the couple had an extra 60 guests arriving for their evening reception. The couple’s chosen band, The Locals, was on their list of must-haves from the moment they started planning the wedding:
“We had a band and a DJ for the party. We knew we had to have our band from our local pub play at our wedding so they were a really important booking.”
“A friend of ours sung our first dance song along with the band and we chose ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You’ as Danny loves this song and we’d seen The Jersey Boys at the theatre when we’d been dating.”
Everyone was up and dancing right from the word go and the dancefloor was packed until the last dance finally bought the day to a close.
