Shaheena & Andrè

Andrè chose to do it the traditional way and so asked Shaheena’s parents first before his proposal. A month after Andrè had asked my parents and on my birthday, he treated me to a lovely meal and when we got back home he went down on one knee asking me to marry him!

The Wedding and Reception Venue

Andrè and Shaheena had been looking for a wedding venue for about nine months and visited four different venues before they settled on Gaynes Park.

As soon as we came up the drive we were greeted by Julie who showed us around the venue and we instantly fell in love with it. This was the first venue that Andrè and I both felt positive about. The huge grin on Andrè’s face told me that this was the right place to get married.

Julie also made us feel really comfortable. There was no hard selling and we were allowed to look around in our own time. Unlike the previous places we had visited, everyone at Gaynes Park was amazingly helpful and friendly. The location was perfect and we didn’t have to compromise on anything. We chose to keep it simple and the let the beauty of Gaynes Park do the talking.

Andrè and Shaheena thought that the best thing about the venue was that it was a blank canvas so they could decorate as much or as little as they pleased.

As soon as Andrè and Shaheena got home they rang and booked Gaynes Park straight away.

Bridesmaids

Shaheena asked her sister and cousin to be her bridesmaids. They wore raspberry pink dresses with silver embellishments, which complemented Shaheena’s dress perfectly.

The Men

Andrè and his ushers wore grey suits with gorgeous pink flower buttonholes.

Your Dress, Accessories and Flowers

Shaheena’s dress was bespoke from a designer in Pakistan called Hassan Sheharyar Yasin HSY. It was chiffon and embellished in silver embroidery with diamantès and a ribbon detail around the waist.

I also wore delicate chandelier earrings and a necklace from Bees in silver and a pair of diamond bangles that were a present from my parents.

Shaheena’s flowers were a vibrant mix of bright pinks, reds and purple. The flowers included anemones, orchids, carnations and roses.

Transport

Shaheena used the Apple Loft Cottage at Gaynes Park to get prepared before the wedding. Andrè arrived at the venue in a Mercedes S-Class.

The Decorative Touches

As Gaynes Park is such a beautiful venue we decided to keep it simple to complement our theme.

Shaheena and Andrè felt that the gardens provided such a beautiful setting that the Orangery didn’t need much decoration and so they decided to just decorate the registrar’s table with beautiful vibrant flowers.

For the reception, they chose bright coloured flowers for the centre pieces and used a wishing tree as their table plan which was also the focal point as you entered the Mill Barn.

They gave their guests a chocolate and a sweets pick ‘n’ mix table which was on display so they could help themselves and create their own favours.

The Cake

Our cake was delicious! We had a three-tiered sponge and butter cream cake with chocolate icing and chocolate roses cascading down the tiers.

Best Part of The Day

Shaheena;
It is so hard to choose just one thing as the whole day was amazing. The best part of the day was being surrounded by our friends and family and seeing their smiling faces and especially walking down the aisle with my dad, sister and cousin and becoming husband and wife.

Andrè;
The best part of the day for me was when I had my wife all to myself.

Wedding Planning Tip

I think it is really important to take a few minutes out, just take in the whole day as it goes by extremely quickly.
